Five Cosy Date Ideas For Any Occasion

Happiness is in the company you keep. This Valentine’s Day, we’re championing the feel-good nature of quality time, sharing date ideas for any occasion. For friends, lovers and dedicated hosts, here are four ideas to help you make plans that’ll be sure to impress.

Get comfy and lounge for hours at a picnic.

The perfect picnic starts with a good foundation: delightful nibbles and an extra cosy spot for hours of chit-chat. We recommend finding a place that suits your date’s vibe, with easy walking access, a mix of sun and shade, and a view so glorious you’ll want to come back again and again. Outdoor-ready pillows are also an easy way to elevate your picnic, bringing in that touch of luxe your body (and Instagram pics) will thank you for.

Picnic spots we recommend: Arthur’s Seat Park, Royal Botanical Garden’s Victoria, Serpentine Falls, New Farm Park

Stay in and cook a delicious meal.

You don’t need to be Jeremy Allen White in The Bear to get things done in the kitchen. One of our go-to date ideas is cooking a delicious meal, because simply put, it’s as difficult as you make it. The key is to be creative with it: set a dining table theme, announce a dress code, buy a nice bottle of wine, or put time aside to be a little extra, like making the pasta by hand. No matter your skill, be sure to wear a fancy apron and drape a cute tea towel over your shoulder, so your guest(s) know you mean serious business.

Recipes we can’t get enough of: Khanh Ong’s Midnight Prawn Pasta, Silvia Colloca's Pizza Margherita, Poh Ling Yeow’s “Top End” Laksa, Julia Busuttil Nishimura’s Bruschetta

Spend a balmy moment by the seaside.

Hanging out by the ocean is scientifically proven to reduce stress, boost your immunity and improve your overall wellbeing, making it an ideal spot to unwind. The possibilities of a beach date are endless—stroll slowly at sunset, splash about from morning to night, or pick a local spot for a bite to eat. Whatever you do, don’t forget to bring a towel. You’ll need one for drying off, cooling down or dusting the sand off with.

Pretty beaches we love: Childers Cove, Squeaky Beach, Twilight Beach, Rainbow Bay, Cabarita Beach

Cosy up and get personal.

If leaving the house is not on the agenda, why not stay at home? Swap out Netflix & Chill with Deep & Meaningfuls and get to really, really know each other. Whether you prep a list of questions or pick up a deck of your favourite conversation cards, the great thing about any relationship is uncovering more about one another. Being comfortable (mentally and physically) is key here, so don’t forget the plush blankets and an open mind.

Conversation starters to explore: FlexMami Conversation Cards, We’re Not Really Strangers Couples Edition, Self Care Original’s Big Talk Card Game, By Rosewell Dinner Parties Card Deck

Dine out and soak up the atmosphere.

Little treats make the world go round. While we won’t have to twist a foodie’s arm, going out for a meal can be a joyous chance to experience new flavours and cuisines you otherwise wouldn’t indulge in at home. Valentine’s Day serves as the perfect reminder to push outside your comfort zone and try out that local spot you’ve been eyeing—or that reservation-only restaurant you’ve got buried in your Instagram saves.

Restaurants to indulge at: La Pinta, Carlton Wine Room, Pellegrino 2000, Africola, Peppina, Kiln
